>The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck<

Is God Testing Me?

Sometimes I think that God is testing me to see how much I can take before I have a heart attack. First Kaylin had the fun "cut off her finger" experience, then we had the tick in the head, next was fall down the steps and land on her neck, and the most recent - spraying air freshener in her eyes. Yes, she actually did this on Monday. It was another one of those "I should have known to remove that" moments. I was cleaning the back room and decided while I was at it to keep on going and dust in the bathroom as well. Kaylin of course was following behind me with her own little rag helping me clean. She was wiping off the top of the tank when I left the room, saying behind me "come on, let's clean out here now" and that's when I heard the "SCHUUU" followed by a painful scream. I knew immediately what she had done and I swear to you, for a few moments I thought for sure she was going to be blind. I stuck her entire head under the bathroom faucet horrified (and do not ask me how her head actually fit in the bathroom sink - but it did!) to be honest, I think this is what she was really screaming about! I think I scared her by doing that, but I didn't know what to do and that was the first thing I thought of! Anyways, after about 5 minutes of pouring water in her eyes - she was fine. Her eyes were a little red for about an hour and that was it! For a minute it was almost as scary as the finger incident - but I hope nothing is ever as horrible as that was! Thank God she is okay!

Tuesday we went trick or treating in Homewood or as Kaylin says "coo-co treating "(Heather, Gianna, my mom, Jill, Christine, Syd and Marie), and we got our share of candy for sure. Kaylin got double at a few places for being so stinkin' cute! She was Dumbo (huge ears and all!) and Isabella was a duck. Reason for no photo's yet is because after I made certain I had the camera with me, I realized once I was there that the memory stick was at home! So once I get a copy of someone else's I'll have to show how cute they were. After we got back home, Daddy took her to a few houses here too. Wednesday I think she was insane from all the candy she ate! I have never let her eat that much candy nor will I do so again anytime soon...

Now, if you do not have kids - this will be one of those "why is she sharing that?!?!" moments - but if you do, you will probably be more likely to share in my joy. Kaylin has decided that she's a big girl now, and she is going potty all by herself! Mostly it's only when we are at home, but that's a great start! I am so excited! I know it's pretty dumb, but I was thinking for a while there that it might never happen, because really, how do you teach someone else how to go pee?!?! I guess I really never thought about it before! But like all other things in parenthood - you just kind of figure it out as you go!
